Which yoga mats are suitable for studio use?Updated 3 days ago
For equipping yoga studios, we primarily recommend MUDRA and MUDRA PRO. Other mats from our range can also be used in studios, but come with different properties and care requirements. Here's an overview:
Yoga mat MUDRA
Suitability: Designed for studios and shared spaces, a practical all-rounder.
Advantages:
- Lightweight (approx. 1.3 kg)
- Waffle structure: reliable grip, even for dynamic styles (Vinyasa, Ashtanga)
- OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified
- Withstands thorough, wet cleaning – can even be rinsed off in the shower if needed
Good to know:
- Let it dry fully spread out after cleaning
- Don't hang it up while still damp – especially not close to other mats (risk of mold/odor)
Yoga mat MUDRA PRO (incl. XL)
Suitability: Explicitly designed for studios, retreats, and rotating participants.
Advantages:
- Closed, moisture-repellent surface → very easy to care for and hygienic with frequent user turnover
- Also withstands thorough, wet cleaning
- Robust PVC structure, stays stable in shape even under intensive use
- Made in Germany
- Also available as XL (200 cm) for larger rooms/taller yogis
Good to know:
- Let it dry fully spread out after cleaning
- Don't hang it up while still damp – especially not close to other mats
Yoga mat PURE
Suitability: Currently intended primarily for personal practice, though technically usable in a studio as well.
Advantages:
- Very good grip and cushioning (PU surface on a natural rubber base)
- Especially suited to sweaty/dynamic styles
Good to know for studio use:
- Sensitive to residue from face/body creams, lotions, or other oily substances → staining, reduced grip
- Only a damp cloth/spray can be used, no rinsing → harder to clean thoroughly with frequent user turnover
- This can be a hygiene disadvantage in group settings compared to MUDRA/MUDRA PRO
- Higher care effort, potentially shorter lifespan under heavy multi-user use
Yoga mat ARISE
Suitability: Also intended primarily for personal practice.
Advantages:
- Natural rubber with recycled content, very good grip
- High customer rating (4.9/5)
Good to know for studio use:
- More sensitive to direct sunlight
- May show wear faster under very intensive multi-user use
- Only a damp cloth/spray can be used, no rinsing → harder to clean thoroughly with frequent user turnover
Yoga mat ARISE CORK
Suitability: Also intended primarily for personal practice.
Advantages:
- Cork surface has antimicrobial properties
- Becomes grippier with moisture/sweat
Good to know for studio use:
- Grip depends on individually dampening hands/feet – impractical for quickly rotating users
- Only a damp cloth/spray can be used, no rinsing → harder to clean thoroughly with frequent user turnover
Yoga mat ARISE Travel
- Not recommended for regular studio use: extra thin/lightweight, not designed for constant use in class operations
Care & drying in daily studio use
- After every cleaning, let the mat dry fully spread out before rolling it up or storing it
- Don't hang mats up while still damp – especially not close to other mats (risk of mold/odor)
- MUDRA/MUDRA PRO: additionally tolerate more thorough, wetter cleaning (MUDRA can even be rinsed off) – an extra hygiene advantage for group use
- PURE/ARISE/ARISE CORK: only a damp cloth/spray – making it harder to keep them fully hygienic with frequent user turnover
